Research & Development

The Research & Development division of ReMat Group is the driving force behind the innovation and continuous improvement of our materials, processes, and services. We have always believed that industrial competitiveness relies on investment in knowledge and technology. For this reason, we allocate over 1 million euros each year to the development of new recycled-based solutions, the testing of low-impact technologies, and the enhancement of our product performance.

Our in-house laboratory, operating on an industrial scale, is equipped with instruments dedicated to analyzing the rheological and mechanical characteristics of materials. We regularly monitor melt flow index (MFI), density, residual moisture, optical cleanliness of flakes, presence of metals, extrusion compatibility, color, and other key parameters to ensure consistency and traceability.
All data is recorded, digitized, and used to optimize production, reduce waste, and accurately meet the technical requirements of our clients.

In parallel with our internal activities, we also participate in industrial innovation projects in collaboration with universities, research centers, and startups in the fields of materials science, circular economy, and green technologies. We work with technology hubs and European networks to develop technical compounds based on recycled materials, incorporating mineral fillers, UV additives, flame retardants, thermal stabilizers, and customized solutions for specific sectors such as automotive, construction, furniture, and industrial packaging.

R&D activity at ReMat Group goes beyond product formulation—it also encompasses sustainability. All new materials are evaluated from an environmental perspective, with careful consideration of their life cycle impact (LCA) and their contribution to reducing carbon footprint compared to virgin raw materials. Initial results confirm that, in certain applications, our regenerated materials can generate up to 70% fewer CO₂ emissions, making a tangible contribution to our clients’ ESG goals.
